Sydney to Cape Town in a Boeing 747-400LivewireExpress flight 2914 is a fifteen hour flight that starts off at Kingsford Smith International in Sydney, Australia and finishes at Cape Town International in Cape Town, South Africa. Todays journal will be a short one with just 10 images. I'm writing this nearly a month after flying the flight, so I'm afraid I've forgotten most of the details. Kingsford Smith is chock full of B747s. Everywhere I looked I found nothing other than the majestic Queen of the Sky. I even spotted three other LivewireExpress 747s at their gates. Our mighty aircraft had no problems reaching V2. There was a significant left to right crosswind during takeoff, posing no real problem. A look back shows off Kingsford Smith and the adjacent bay. On our right is the Sydney skyline. After being vectored off the runway course, I engaged autopilot and shot into the sky. While climbing to our cruising altitude of FL390, I noted some of Australia's more interesting topography far below thanks to some very clear skies. Late in the flight we are now being vectored on approach to Cape Town International. The moon is just visible in the distance. As the moon sets behind the South African hills, we are all lined up on approach. And, finally, a pleasant and uneventful touchdown at Cape Town International. This flight generated $202,247.00 total revenue. (PAX: 285 Economy Class, 61 Business Class) I hope you all enjoyed! Webpage and all images are Copyright © 2004-2005 Gregory S. Gursky.
